Color Availability of HG Parts

We design and manufacture all HG components here in our state-of-the-art facility in New York, USA.

Most parts are machined out from solid aerospace alloys of aluminum and titanium. These parts are normally silver when produced. Many parts are chipped out silver while others are offered in purple or orange. Colors are chosen to make the parts look their best in each car. Some parts such are gears that are subjected to heavy wear are hard anodized , which is an olive green type shade. These parts are coated to make them extremely wear resistant and not for their cosmetic appeal.

What colors are available ?

Each part is available in ONLY 1 color as listed on the website. The color varies depending on the car it is for . For example most of our Associated and Losi parts are silver, HPI parts purple, and Traxxas parts Orange. You cannot rerequest a different color for a part than what is offered.

Can I order the purple or orange parts in silver?

We normally do not keep any silver versions of parts that we offer in colors. Occasionally we will take special requests for a normally colored part in silver. When the parts are manufactured, they are silver. If you order during a time when a particular item is in production we may be able to pull it from our production line before it gets anodized. But at any given time only a few part numbers are in production. So for example, you cannot ever call in a request for all HPI parts in silver at one time. You would have to purchase 1 piece at a time as they are produced.
We do not disclose our production schedules so you cannot plan when to order a particular item in silver. It is partly a matter of luck if your request for a particualr item is made during the production of that item. We do not recommend such special requests on a normal basis, and we do not take backorders for special request items. Either the timing is just right or we dont take the request. It is simply too complicated and too many variable involved to handle such requests.

Can I remove the anodized finish on a part?

The anodized coating on our parts is extremely durable and wear resistant. It is possible to remove it but it takes some effort. You can sand the finish off using abrasives such as sandpaper. This is time consuming but with enough patience you should be able to remove the anodizing. You can then finsh the part as desired with a satin or polished appearance depending on what grade sandpaper you use.
Remeber : Saftey First : always use eye protection and dust protection .
