Which Glue Should I Use With Alloy Wheels HG Alloy Wheels are extremely durable and can be used and
reused repeatedly. It is generally best to thoroughly wipe the rim clean in the area where the glue is being applied to assure the best bond. You may have to use some cleaner if there is oil present. Most CA glues will provide an easily removable bond. The old tire will usually be easy to peel off the rim with little or no remaining residue to interfere with the new tire If you desire a more permanant bond, you can use 2 part epoxies designed for bonding metel and rubber. Follow the directions supplied by the epoxy manufacturer. Epoxies will generally provide a very strong bond if applied correctly. When the old tire is removed, it is possible that some fragments may tear off and stay stuck to the wheels. This should not be a major concern. The wheels are machined from solid alloy. If it is neccessary, use some abrasive (sandpaper) etc. to remove any small tire pieces. Dont worry about scratches on the outer rim of the wheels, since that area willbe covered up by your new tire. Ofcourse , be careful not to scratch the front face of the wheels. If the wheels get dull or worn looking from use, they can always be polished . Infact , you can use aluminum polishes ( such as Never Dull, and Mother's, available at most auto stores) to polish HG wheels to a chrome like luster ! So have fun with your new wheels. They are not just for show ! They are made to be run and are durable enough to last a long time. |
